Dec 29, 2024, 12:42 AM
A high-speed pursuit on the Selmon Expressway in Tampa, Florida, early Saturday morning resulted in the arrest of Jovontae Henderson. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that Henderson was driving a BMW at speeds exceeding 120 mph in a 55 mph zone. The chase ended when Henderson's vehicle collided with an FHP patrol car, causing minor injuries to a trooper. Henderson, who has a history of driving violations and an active warrant, faces multiple charges, including fleeing to elude at high speed, driving on a canceled or suspended license (third offense), and aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer. The incident began when Tampa Police Department officers spotted Henderson speeding and called for FHP assistance. Troopers attempted two PIT maneuvers before successfully stopping the vehicle. Henderson's actions are under investigation.
