CAS Rules Against Jordan Chiles' Bronze Medal Appeal, Reinstates Score of 13.666
Aug 10, 2024, 05:26 PM
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has ruled that the score inquiry for Jordan Chiles, which elevated her to a 13.766 and into a bronze medal position in the women's floor final, was submitted after the one-minute deadline allowed for such appeals. The appeal was submitted one minute and four seconds after the score was announced, exceeding the time limit by four seconds. As a result, CAS has determined that Chiles's original score of 13.666 should be reinstated. This decision follows an appeal by Romania, which contested the timeliness of the petition submitted on behalf of Chiles. The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) will now determine the final rankings and medal allocations for the event.
