J.D. Vance Sworn In as U.S. Vice President, Emphasizing MAGA Agenda
Jan 18, 2025, 03:48 PM
J.D. Vance has officially assumed the role of Vice President of the United States under President Donald Trump, marking the beginning of the second Trump administration. At 40, Vance is the first millennial to hold the position and brings a distinct ideological commitment to the MAGA movement, shaped by his background as a Marine, Yale Law graduate, and venture capitalist. His inauguration was marked by personal touches, including a custom navy blue suit designed by 90-year-old Italian immigrant and master tailor Romualdo Pelle, who has been a long-time supplier of Vance’s clothing. Justice Brett Kavanaugh administered the oath of office during the ceremony. Vance has assembled a team for his vice-presidential office, including Jacob Reses as Chief of Staff, Sean Cooksey as Counsel, Bryan Gray as Deputy Chief of Staff, Andrew Baker as National Security Advisor, and Abby Delahoyde as Director of Domestic Policy. His wife, Usha Vance, an Indian-American and the first Hindu Second Lady, and their three children have also moved into the Vice President's residence. Vance’s role is expected to include significant influence on policy and the administration’s ideological direction, with an emphasis on "America First" principles.
