Commanders' Jayden Daniels Leaves with Rib Injury; Mariota In as Washington Leads Panthers 17-0
Oct 20, 2024, 08:38 PM
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels left Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers with a rib injury and is questionable to return. Daniels exited in the first quarter after a 46-yard run, during which he appeared to injure his ribs. He was evaluated in the blue medical tent before heading to the locker room for x-rays, visibly frustrated as he slammed his helmet. Backup quarterback Marcus Mariota replaced him on the field. Before his departure, Daniels helped the Commanders take an early lead. Washington led 17-0 with 11 minutes left in the second quarter, including an 8-yard touchdown run by Brian Robinson Jr. The Commanders' defense contributed with an interception by Emmanuel Forbes Jr. and a pick-six by Dante Fowler Jr. Daniels, considered the Offensive Rookie of the Year front runner, is being evaluated for a rib injury, and his return is uncertain.
