Boston Red Sox outfielder and All-Star Jarren Duran was caught on a hot mic using a homophobic slur directed at a fan during Sunday's game against the Houston Astros at Fenway Park. The incident occurred in the bottom of the sixth inning when the Red Sox were trailing 10-0. Following the incident, Duran issued an apology through the team, expressing regret for his actions and acknowledging the harm caused to the LGBTQ community. The Red Sox organization also released a statement stressing the importance of inclusivity. The game ended with the Red Sox losing 10-2 to the Astros.
