Japan Targets 20GW Perovskite Solar Cells by 2040, Equivalent to 20 Reactors
Nov 25, 2024, 11:07 AM
In Japan, the government aims to introduce 20 gigawatts of next-generation perovskite solar cells by 2040, equivalent to the output of 20 nuclear reactors. This initiative is part of Japan's energy basic plan and aims to ensure energy security by reducing reliance on specific countries for raw materials. Japan is the second-largest producer of iodine, a primary material for perovskite solar cells. Japan is also launching the FAST fusion project to achieve limitless energy by 2030, focusing on sustained burning plasma and high-temperature superconducting coils.
