VisitJapan Ends Floppy Disk Use in Government Systems Last Week
Jul 3, 2024, 04:10 PM
Japan has officially declared victory in its effort to eliminate the use of floppy disks in all government systems as of last week. This milestone marks the end of a decades-long campaign to modernize the country's bureaucracy. Led by Digital Minister Taro Kono, the initiative resulted in the scrapping of over 1,000 regulations that required the use of floppy disks. The government has now fully transitioned away from the antiquated storage devices, which were a staple of the 1990s, achieving a significant modernization milestone.
