Wake Forest Hires Jake Dickert as Head Coach with 23-20 Record, Replacing Dave Clawson Ahead of Holiday Bowl vs. No. 21 Syracuse
Dec 18, 2024, 03:05 PM
Wake Forest University has officially hired Jake Dickert as its new head football coach, following the departure of Dave Clawson. Dickert, who previously served as the head coach at Washington State, is expected to bring his experience from a tenure where he recorded a 23-20 record over three-plus seasons, including three bowl appearances. The announcement comes after a swift search process, with sources indicating that the decision was made in response to Clawson's unexpected exit earlier this week. Wake Forest's athletic director, John Currie, had been preparing for this transition. Dickert's introductory press conference is scheduled for tomorrow at 10 a.m. in Bridger Field House. In the meantime, Washington State has named assistant head coach Pete Kaligis as the acting head coach for the upcoming Holiday Bowl against No. 21 Syracuse, scheduled for December 27.
