Israeli Settlers' Attack in Jit Kills Rashid Sadda, Condemned as 'Pogrom'
Aug 16, 2024, 01:17 AM
A violent attack by Israeli settlers occurred in the West Bank village of Jit, resulting in the death of a 23-year-old Palestinian man, Rashid Mahmoud Abdel Qader Sadda. The settlers, some masked and armed with Molotov cocktails, set fire to homes and vehicles. Muawiya Sedeh, a resident, witnessed his house being torched. The incident has drawn widespread condemnation, including from Israeli President Isaac Herzog, who labeled it a 'pogrom.' Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister Itamar Ben Gvir have also been mentioned in discussions about the incident. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) detained one Israeli civilian involved in the attack. The White House and other international figures have condemned the violence, urging Israel to protect all communities and hold the perpetrators accountable.
