Eight Israeli soldiers were killed in an explosion in Rafah, southern Gaza, marking the deadliest incident for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in months. The soldiers were traveling in an armored personnel carrier when it was struck by an anti-tank shell fired by Hamas fighters. The incident occurred in Tel Sultan, West Rafah. Among the deceased was Captain Wassem Mahmoud, a 23-year-old deputy company commander from Beit Jann. The IDF is investigating the incident, which has raised the ground operation toll to 307. Airstrikes across Gaza killed at least 19 Palestinians.
