RFA Isaac Okoro Agrees to 3-Year, $38M Deal with Cavs
Sep 14, 2024, 06:35 PM
Restricted free agent (RFA) Isaac Okoro has agreed to a three-year, $38 million deal to remain with the Cleveland Cavaliers (Cavs). The agreement was first reported by ESPN and confirmed by Okoro's representatives, Michael Tellem, Jeff Schwartz, and Marcus Monk of Excel Basketball. Okoro, the fifth overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, averaged 9.4 points last season. The $11.8 million qualifying offer for Okoro was set to expire on October 1, and the Cavaliers were $10.4 million below the luxury tax threshold before the signing. The deal includes a small amount in bonuses tied to team success. Okoro passed on his qualifying offer to help keep the team's core together and compete for a title. The Brooklyn Nets and Charlotte Hornets had expressed interest in acquiring Okoro via sign-and-trade before he finalized the deal with the Cavaliers, league sources said.
