Russia to Launch Iran's First Private Sector Satellites for Agriculture, Communications on Nov 5
Nov 4, 2024, 08:29 AM
Russia is set to launch two Iranian satellites into orbit on Tuesday, November 5, using a Soyuz launcher, according to Iran's ambassador to Moscow, Kazem Jalali. Iran has released photographs of the satellites, named Kowsar and another undisclosed name, which are said to be the country's first 'private sector satellites' intended for agricultural and communications purposes. The launch signifies a deepening of scientific and technological cooperation between the two US-sanctioned countries. The Soyuz-2.1b rocket, positioned at the Vostochny Cosmodrome, is also carrying two Ionosfera-M satellites to monitor Earth’s 'space weather' and 53 other small satellites from Russia and abroad.
