The Lancet, a renowned medical journal, has published a conservative estimate indicating that the death toll in Gaza due to the ongoing conflict could be as high as 186,000 people. This figure represents approximately 8% of the Gaza Strip's population, which was estimated at 2,375,259 in 2022. The report highlights that both direct and indirect deaths are included in this estimate. The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that in the past 24 hours alone, three massacres resulted in 55 fatalities and 123 injuries. The Lancet's findings underscore the severe human toll of the conflict, with many victims still unaccounted for under the rubble. This estimate covers the past 9 months, as of July 7.
