WBD and NBA Settle Lawsuit: 'Inside the NBA' to Air on ESPN Starting 2025
Nov 18, 2024, 02:27 PM
Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and the NBA have settled their legal dispute over broadcast rights, agreeing to an 11-year partnership. As part of the agreement, the popular studio show 'Inside the NBA,' featuring Ernie Johnson Jr., Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Shaquille O'Neal, will air on ESPN and ABC starting with the 2025-2026 season. TNT Sports will continue to produce the show and retain full editorial control, while the talent will remain TNT employees. 'Inside the NBA' will cover key events including Opening Week, Christmas Day, ABC games after January 1, the Playoffs, and the NBA Finals. The settlement allows WBD to develop new NBA-related content and grants it international NBA rights in parts of Northern Europe and Latin America, excluding Brazil and Mexico. This agreement marks the end of NBA games airing on TNT in the U.S. after this season.
