Aug 14, 2024, 10:17 AM
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the investigation into the rape and murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The move follows an order from the Calcutta High Court. A CBI team, along with a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, has arrived at the hospital to conduct a probe. Accused Sanjoy Roy has been brought to the Command Hospital for a medical checkup. The case has sparked significant public outcry, with Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar criticizing the West Bengal Government's handling of the situation. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) officials are expected to meet with agitating doctors at the hospital. The incident is part of India's biggest public campaign, Justice for Abhaya.
