Humane's $699 AI Pin Faces High Returns, Only 7,000 Units Sold from $9M Sales

Humane, the maker of the AI Pin, is facing significant challenges as returns of the product are outpacing sales. Since its release in April at a price of $699, the company has seen more returns than purchases from May to August. Internal data reveals that the number of AI Pins still in customer hands has dropped to approximately 7,000, with lifetime sales exceeding $9 million. However, over $1 million worth of products have been returned. The company is unable to refurbish returned units, turning them into e-waste. Humane had initially hoped to sell 100,000 units this year, but this target now seems unlikely. Early feedback from alpha testers described the product as "frustrating," failing to meet expectations set by demo videos.
