Huawei to Launch Ascend 910C AI Chip in October, Challenging Nvidia in China
Aug 13, 2024, 09:55 AM
Huawei Technologies is preparing to launch its new Ascend 910C chip, aimed at challenging Nvidia's dominance in the artificial intelligence hardware market in China. The chip, which Huawei claims is comparable to Nvidia's H100, is currently being tested by major Chinese companies, including ByteDance and Baidu. Huawei is reportedly in talks to secure tens of thousands of orders for the chip, with potential orders estimated at around 70,000 units. The company plans to start shipping the Ascend 910C as soon as October, despite facing U.S. sanctions that restrict the availability of Nvidia's H100 in China.
