Florida Housekeeper Arrested in Brevard County for Assaulting and Robbing 83-Year-Old Over Denied $500 Christmas Bonus, Cashes $1,400 Check

Heather Nelson, a 29-year-old housekeeper in Brevard County, Florida, was arrested after allegedly assaulting and robbing her 83-year-old employer on Christmas Eve. The incident occurred after Nelson demanded a $500 Christmas bonus, which was denied due to the employer's financial constraints. In response, Nelson forcibly took the victim's checkbook, stole a check, and also took Christmas cards containing checks. She allegedly cashed a blank check for $1,400 and used the victim's credit cards to pay her rent and make other purchases. Nelson faces charges including robbery, aggravated battery, forgery, and grand theft. The victim suffered a swollen wrist from the altercation. The Brevard County Sheriff's Office likened Nelson's actions to those of the Grinch, emphasizing the betrayal of trust and the timing of the crime during the holiday season.
