China Allocates 200 Million Yuan for Typhoon Yagi Relief Efforts
Sep 7, 2024, 11:16 AM
The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters has raised its emergency response to floods and typhoons in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region after Super Typhoon Yagi made landfall in Hainan. Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged enhanced disaster relief efforts to ensure the safety of lives and property. The central government has allocated 200 million yuan (approximately 28.2 million U.S. dollars) from the central budget to support disaster relief and recovery efforts in the typhoon-hit regions of Hainan and Guangdong. Additionally, 270 million yuan (about 38.07 million U.S. dollars) has been earmarked from the central natural disaster-relief funds for rescue and relief work. Multiple authorities have mobilized emergency response efforts as the impacts of Super Typhoon Yagi, the 11th typhoon of this year, persist in south China. The typhoon has left four people dead.
