Google Updates Search Algorithms to Combat Non-Consensual Explicit Deepfakes
Jul 31, 2024, 01:07 PM
Google has announced a series of updates to its search algorithms and controls to combat the spread of explicit deepfakes. The new measures aim to make AI-generated or otherwise spoofed explicit content more difficult to discover. These updates include features that make it easier to remove explicit deepfakes from search results at scale and prevent them from appearing high up in search rankings. Additionally, Google has introduced a fact-check tool to its image search to provide more context about the images displayed. According to Google, recent changes have already lowered exposure to explicit image results by over 70%. One year ago, 44% of desktop traffic to Mrdeepfakes came from Google. The company is also targeting non-consensual explicit content.
