Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard Wins First ATP Title in Lyon, Defeats Etcheverry 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(7)

Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard has won his first ATP title in his home city of Lyon, France. The 20-year-old Frenchman, standing at 2.03m and known for his one-handed backhand, defeated Tomas Etcheverry 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(7) in a thrilling final at the Open Parc event, saving a championship point in the process. This victory makes Mpetshi Perricard the youngest ever Lyon finalist and the fourth French player since 2000 to claim an ATP title on clay before turning 21, joining Gael Monfils, Richard Gasquet, and Arthur Fils. His win also marks his first match victory against a Top 20 player, having defeated Alexander Bublik 6-4, 7-5 in the semifinals.
