Germany Reconsiders Turkey's Eurofighter Request, Demands Israel Sign Genocide Clause
Oct 14, 2024, 06:16 AM
Germany has reconsidered Ankara’s Eurofighter purchase request following regional tensions between Ukraine and Russia, and the Gaza war. The German Federal Security Council decided to allow the Eurofighter consortium to share specifications of the fighter jet with Turkey and begin technical consultations. Additionally, Germany's coalition partner, the Greens, blocked weapons deliveries to Israel since March until Israel signed a pledge that the weapons won’t be used in Gaza. Germany reportedly requested Israel to sign a 'genocide clause' as a condition for continued arms deliveries, ensuring that German weapons would not be used in acts of genocide, Bild reports.
