NASA Delays Return of Astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams Until Late March 2025 Due to Crew-10 Mission and SpaceX Dragon Preparation
Dec 18, 2024, 12:30 AM
NASA has announced a delay in the return of astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams from the International Space Station (ISS), extending their mission until at least late March 2025. Originally launched on June 5, 2024, aboard Boeing's Starliner capsule for an eight-day mission, their stay was extended to eight months due to technical issues with the spacecraft. The latest delay is attributed to the need for more time to prepare a new SpaceX Dragon spacecraft for the upcoming Crew-10 mission, which must launch before Wilmore and Williams can return to Earth. This mission, initially planned for February, is now scheduled for no earlier than late March, pushing the astronauts' total time in space to nearly 10 months.
