Freeman Martin, First Texas Ranger, Sworn in as 14th DPS Director by Gov. Abbott

Freeman F. Martin, a former Texas Ranger, was sworn in as the new Director of the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) by Governor Greg Abbott on Monday morning. Martin, who is the first Texas Ranger to ascend to this role, replaces retiring Executive Director Steve McCraw. The swearing-in ceremony took place at DPS Headquarters in Austin, where Martin was unanimously selected by the Public Safety Commission to serve as the 14th Director of the department. Governor Abbott praised Martin's dedication to the rule of law and expressed confidence in his ability to ensure Texas remains a law-and-order state.
