Olympic Sprinter Fred Kerley Tasered and Arrested in Miami Beach's South Beach on Multiple Charges
Jan 3, 2025, 10:09 PM
Olympic sprinter Fred Kerley, aged 29, was arrested in Miami Beach's South Beach area following a confrontation with police late Thursday night. The incident occurred when Kerley approached an active police scene to inquire about his vehicle, which was parked nearby. According to police reports, Kerley displayed an aggressive demeanor and attempted to force his way through the police perimeter. This led to a physical altercation where four officers wrestled him to the ground, struck him multiple times, and eventually subdued him with a Taser. He was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer, and disorderly conduct. Additionally, Kerley faces charges from a separate incident on May 7, 2024, including strong-arm robbery and domestic battery by strangulation. His girlfriend, Cleo Rahman, also known as DJ Sky High Baby, was arrested for resisting an officer without violence during the incident. Kerley, a two-time Olympic medalist, won a silver medal in the 100-meter dash at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and a bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
