Lindor's Historic Grand Slam Off Estévez Gives Mets 4-1 Lead in NLDS Game 4
Oct 9, 2024, 11:38 PM
Francisco Lindor hit a go-ahead grand slam in the sixth inning to give the New York Mets a 4-1 lead over the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 4 of the National League Division Series (NLDS). This marks the second postseason grand slam in Mets history—the first since Edgardo Alfonzo's in 1999—and makes Lindor one of only three players, alongside Shane Victorino and Jim Thome, with multiple postseason grand slams. The grand slam came off Carlos Estévez, who had allowed only five home runs all season. As Lindor rounded the bases, fans at Citi Field chanted 'MVP'. The pivotal swing increased the Mets' win probability from 58% to 91%. With this, the Mets are now nine outs away from advancing to the National League Championship Series (NLCS).
