Unidentified Drones Over US Air Bases in UK Force Flight Suspensions
Nov 24, 2024, 01:37 PM
Unidentified drones of varying sizes and configurations were spotted over three US Air Force bases in the UK between November 20 and 22, according to US Air Forces Europe. The drones, described as "small unmanned aerial systems," were observed flying over RAF Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall, and RAF Feltwell, all located in eastern England. RAF Lakenheath, situated about 100 kilometers from London and set to house nuclear weapons, is home to US F-15 and F-35 fighter jets. Reports indicate that drone activity forced the suspension of flights of F-15 and F-35 jets at RAF Lakenheath, although the US Air Force stated that the drones did not impact base operations, residents, or critical infrastructure. The US Air Force has not determined whether the drones were hostile and did not disclose whether any direct action was taken to counter them.
