Oct 28, 2024, 05:48 AM
Japan has seen a significant increase in female representation both in corporate and political spheres. The number of female CEOs in Japan reached a record 649,262 this year, making up more than 15% of all CEOs for the first time, according to a survey by Tokyo Shoko Research. Additionally, over 55 women were elected to Japan's House of Representatives in the recent election, marking a record high. Despite this progress, women still constitute less than 16% of the lower house, falling short of the government's target of 35% female representation by 2025. The proportion of women among all candidates in the recent House of Representatives election reached a record 23.36%.
