FEMA Supervisor Fired for Ordering Workers to Skip Trump Homes in Florida; DeSantis Launches Investigation
Nov 9, 2024, 11:56 AM
A FEMA supervisor instructed disaster relief workers in Florida to avoid assisting homes displaying signs supporting former President Donald Trump after Hurricane Milton, according to internal messages obtained by The Daily Wire and confirmed by FEMA. The supervisor, identified as Marn'i Washington, told workers to 'avoid homes advertising Trump' while assessing hurricane damage in Lake Placid, Florida. The directive, conveyed both verbally and through a Teams chat, resulted in at least 20 homes being skipped. FEMA has confirmed the incident, removed Washington from her role, and referred the matter to the Office of Special Counsel. The agency deployed a new team to visit the affected homes and stated it is 'deeply disturbed' by the employee's actions. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has ordered a state investigation into the alleged discrimination and has demanded that President Biden preserve all related records. Members of Congress are also calling for federal inquiries into the matter.
