ESA Signs €119.6M Contract with D-Orbit for 2028 RISE Mission, Lifetime of 8 Years, at IAC 2024

The European Space Agency (ESA) has signed a contract with D-Orbit to develop the RISE mission, which is scheduled for launch in early 2028. This mission aims to enhance in-orbit servicing capabilities and is expected to have a lifetime of eight years. Additionally, during the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) 2024, ESA Director General Josef Aschbacher announced that over 100 companies and organizations will endorse the ESA-led Zero Debris Charter. D-Orbit is entering the geostationary orbit (GEO) in-orbit servicing market, having secured a contract valued at €119.6 million for its first satellite life extension mission.
