Jan 9, 2025, 08:29 AM
Eric Trappier, aged 64, has assumed the presidency of the Groupe Industriel Marcel Dassault (GIMD), succeeding Charles Edelstenne, who has stepped down at the age of 87. Trappier, who has been the CEO of Dassault Aviation since 2013, will continue in that role while taking on the new position. The transition was announced by the Dassault family's holding company in February of the previous year. Trappier's notable achievement includes leading the export success of the Rafale aircraft, with nearly 300 sold abroad. He also serves as the president of the Union des industries et métiers de la métallurgie (UIMM). Charles Edelstenne, a long-time figure in the Dassault empire, has been appointed as honorary president in recognition of his exceptional career with the group. The Dassault family, through GIMD, holds 64% of Dassault Aviation and 40% of Dassault Systèmes, making them the sixth wealthiest family in France with a professional asset value exceeding 28 billion euros.
