Jan 7, 2025, 04:40 PM
President-elect Donald Trump announced a $20 billion investment in new data centers across the United States by Hussain Sajwani, an Emirati billionaire and chairman of Dubai-based DAMAC Properties. The investment aims to build data centers in the Midwest and Sunbelt regions, including Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, and Indiana, and may be doubled depending on market conditions. Sajwani, a close business partner of the Trump family, joined Trump during the announcement at Mar-a-Lago, expressing that they have been waiting for this opportunity for four years and were inspired by the election. The project is expected to enhance the country's technological infrastructure, support advancements in artificial intelligence and cloud technology, and create thousands of jobs for American workers. Trump indicated that environmental reviews for the project may be expedited to facilitate its development.
