Kamala Harris Defends Biden's Fitness as 70% of Americans Say U.S. on Wrong Track in Fox Interview
Oct 16, 2024, 10:42 PM
Vice President Kamala Harris appeared on Fox News on Wednesday for a contentious 27-minute interview with anchor Bret Baier. During the interview, Baier questioned Harris on a range of topics, including the perception that more than 70% of Americans believe the country is on the wrong track despite her administration being in office for 3.5 years. Harris responded by pointing to former President Donald Trump's ongoing political influence, noting, "Donald Trump has been running for office." Baier pressed Harris on recent polls showing Trump leading, asking, "If Trump is as bad as you claim, why is he beating you in the polls?" Harris replied, "It's not supposed to be a cake walk." When Baier followed up by asking if the American people are misguided or stupid, Harris avoided a direct answer. The conversation also addressed President Joe Biden's cognitive abilities. Baier asked when Harris first noticed any diminishment in Biden's mental faculties. After a brief pause, Harris defended Biden, stating, "Joe Biden, I have watched from the Oval Office to the Situation Room, and he has the judgment and the experience to do what he has done." She further remarked, "Joe Biden is not on the ballot, and Donald Trump is." At times, the conversation grew tense, with Harris pushing back against Baier's interruptions, insisting, "You have to let me finish." Towards the end of the interview, Baier noted that Harris's team was signaling to wrap up the segment. Following the interview, Harris's team reportedly called it an "ambush."
