Elon Musk to Lead DOGE, Target $2 Trillion Cuts from Eisenhower Office
Jan 14, 2025, 06:30 AM
Elon Musk is set to use office space in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, adjacent to the White House, as part of his role in leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The initiative, co-led with biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, aims to reduce federal spending by up to $2 trillion. DOGE, which is not an official government department, will embed two representatives in major federal agencies to identify cost-cutting opportunities. Musk's proximity to President Donald Trump, with whom he has maintained a close relationship, will grant him significant access to the administration. The office space arrangement underscores Musk's growing influence in the Trump administration, particularly as DOGE seeks to streamline government operations and address the federal budget deficit. Reports indicate Musk has already participated in official meetings, and discussions about his access to the West Wing are ongoing. DOGE's coordination efforts are currently based out of SpaceX's Washington, D.C., office. Musk previously donated over $250 million to Trump's campaign.
