Florida QB DJ Lagway Suffers Significant Hamstring Injury in 34-20 Loss to No. 2 Georgia
Nov 2, 2024, 09:33 PM
Florida Gators quarterback DJ Lagway sustained a significant hamstring injury during the second quarter against No. 2 Georgia on Saturday when Florida was leading 10-3. Prior to his injury, Lagway threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to Aidan Mizell. Lagway was carted off the field after grabbing his hamstring, and head coach Billy Napier described the injury as "pretty significant." With Lagway out, the Gators turned to backup quarterback Aidan Warner, a redshirt freshman walk-on who began his college career at Yale last fall. Despite leading 13-6 at halftime, Florida could not maintain the lead. A botched field goal snap led to a Georgia touchdown, and Georgia ultimately defeated Florida 34-20. The injury to Lagway is a significant blow to the Gators, who now face uncertainty at the quarterback position for the foreseeable future.
