Delhi's Gopal Rai Leads Winter Action Plan with 33 Departments to Combat Pollution
Aug 29, 2024, 08:50 AM
Delhi's Environment Minister Gopal Rai has announced that the Delhi government is accelerating preparations to address pollution levels that typically rise during the winter months. A comprehensive Winter Action Plan is being developed, focusing on key areas such as dust pollution, vehicle emissions, stubble and garbage burning, and industrial pollution. The government has held meetings with over 50 experts, NGOs, and researchers to gather insights and improve the plan. The initiative also includes operationalizing Real-Time Source Apportionment infrastructure and a smog tower pilot project, as directed by the Supreme Court. The plan will involve coordination with 33 departments and utilize the GreenDelhi app. The efforts are part of a broader strategy under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, aimed at improving air quality in Delhi.
