Namibia Wins Group B Opener in Thrilling Super Over Against Oman in T20 World Cup
Jun 3, 2024, 03:53 AM
Namibia triumphed over Oman in a thrilling Super Over to kick off their T20 World Cup campaign with a victory in the first game of Group B. The match, held in Barbados, saw Namibia elect to bowl first after winning the toss. Ruben Trumpelmann's career-best performance helped restrict Oman, taking three wickets for just seven runs in his first two overs. Oman, however, fought back fiercely, tying the scores at 109 after Namibia's 20 overs. Mehran Khan's exceptional bowling in the final over, where he conceded only four runs, was pivotal in taking the match to a Super Over. This was the first Super Over in the Men's T20 World Cup since 2012. In the Super Over, David Wiese emerged as the hero for Namibia, scoring 13 runs and then defending 21 with the ball to secure the win.
