Craig Wright Referred to UK Prosecutors for Alleged Perjury and Forgery Over Bitcoin Claims
Jul 16, 2024, 11:16 AM
Craig Wright, an Australian computer scientist who falsely claimed to be Bitcoin's creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, has been referred to the UK's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for alleged perjury and forgery. A London High Court judge, James Mellor, found that Wright lied extensively and repeatedly during a trial initiated by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) to prevent him from suing Bitcoin developers. Wright is required to publish the court ruling on his website, Twitter, and Slack, stating that he is not Satoshi Nakamoto. The posts must remain for six months. The CPS will decide whether to proceed with criminal charges, which could lead to arrest warrants and extradition requests.
