Conor McGregor, the Irish mixed martial arts fighter and former UFC champion, has been found liable in a civil court case in Dublin for sexually assaulting a woman in 2018. The jury awarded the woman, identified as Nikita Hand, damages of nearly €250,000 ($258,000). The incident occurred in December 2018 at a hotel in Dublin. The High Court jury concluded that McGregor assaulted and raped Ms. Hand, ordering him to pay €248,000 in damages. Following the verdict, Ms. Hand stated, "I want to show everyone that you can stand up for yourself if something happens to you, no matter who the person is." McGregor has stated his intention to appeal the decision.
