Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters Sentenced to Nine Years for Tampering with Dominion Voting Machines
Oct 3, 2024, 07:30 PM
Former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters, a 69-year-old Gold Star mother, has been sentenced to nine years in prison for leading a voting system data breach scheme in Colorado. Inspired by false claims that fraud altered the 2020 presidential election outcome, Peters tampered with Dominion voting machines and allowed an associate of Mike Lindell to access and copy sensitive election data. District Judge Matthew Barrett harshly criticized Peters during sentencing, calling her a "charlatan" who "abused her position" and stating she "cannot help but lie as easy as she breathes." Peters was found guilty in August on seven out of ten charges, including official misconduct and attempting to influence a public servant. Despite having no prior criminal record, she received a sentence totaling nine years of incarceration, comprising eight and a half years in prison and six months in county jail.
