Aug 6, 2024, 07:11 PM
American runner Cole Hocker won the gold medal in the men's 1500m at the Paris 2024 Olympics, setting a new Olympic record with a time of 3:27.65. Hocker, who trained at Indianapolis Cathedral and runs professionally under Nike, achieved a monumental upset by outrunning defending champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen and favorite Josh Kerr. Josh Kerr of Great Britain claimed the silver medal with a national record time of 3:27.79, while fellow American Yared Nuguse took bronze with a time of 3:27.80. This marks the first time in 112 years that two American men have medaled in the Olympic 1500m event.
