Chiefs Waive First-Round RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Two-Time Super Bowl Winner
Dec 16, 2024, 09:48 PM
The Kansas City Chiefs have waived running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, their former first-round draft pick from the 2020 NFL Draft, after five seasons with the team. Edwards-Helaire, who has been dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and was placed on the non-football illness list at the start of the season, announced his release on social media, expressing gratitude to the Chiefs and their fans. He has not played in any games this year. His best season was as a rookie in 2020, where he led the team with 803 rushing yards. Over his career with the Chiefs, he amassed 1,845 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns, 89 receptions, 765 receiving yards, and seven touchdown catches. Edwards-Helaire won two Super Bowls during his tenure with Kansas City. The move potentially opens up a roster spot for the expected return of wide receiver Hollywood Brown.
