Aug 16, 2024, 06:05 AM
China has announced that it will begin screening people and goods entering the country for the mpox virus, following a declaration by the World Health Organization (WHO) that the virus is a global health emergency. The General Administration of Customs in China has implemented tighter surveillance measures at ports of entry to prevent the import of the virus. These new measures took effect on Thursday and will remain in place for six months. The decision comes amid a rise in global cases of mpox.
