Trump Appoints In-Laws Kushner and Boulos to Key Roles Amid Nepotism Concerns

President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Charles Kushner, the father of his son-in-law Jared Kushner, as the United States ambassador to France. Charles Kushner, a real estate developer, pleaded guilty in 2004 to charges including tax evasion, witness tampering, and making illegal campaign contributions. As part of his conviction, he admitted to hiring a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law, covertly recording their encounter, and sending the tape to his sister. He served 14 months in prison before being pardoned by Trump in 2020. The nomination has drawn criticism due to Kushner's past convictions, lack of diplomatic experience, and close family ties to the president-elect. The former French ambassador to the U.S. expressed concern over the appointment. In addition, Trump has appointed Massad Boulos, the billionaire father of his daughter Tiffany Trump's husband, as Senior Advisor on Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs. Boulos is a Lebanese-American businessman with extensive international experience. His appointment has also raised concerns about nepotism and potential conflicts of interest within the incoming administration.
