Celeste Maloy Wins GOP Primary for Utah's 2nd District by 176 Votes After Recount
Aug 5, 2024, 11:32 PM
Rep. Celeste Maloy has been declared the winner of the GOP primary for Utah's 2nd Congressional District following a recount. The recount, which included a review of ballots in Tooele and Washington counties, confirmed Maloy's narrow victory over challenger Colby Jenkins. Despite Jenkins gaining 19 votes in Tooele County and reducing Maloy's lead to 176 votes from an original 214 margin, the overall outcome remained unchanged. Tooele County accounted for all 55 ballots that experienced issues. Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson announced the final results, congratulating Maloy on her victory.
