Trump Announces Lawsuits Against Des Moines Register, CBS, and Bob Woodward Over Election Interference
Dec 16, 2024, 05:20 PM
President-elect Donald Trump announced plans to file major lawsuits against pollster Ann Selzer and the Des Moines Register over a pre-election poll that he claims was "wrong by 16 points." The final Selzer poll, published days before the election, indicated that Kamala Harris was leading by three points in Iowa, a result that Trump alleges was fraudulent and amounted to election interference and fraud. Despite the poll's projections, Trump won Iowa by a substantial margin of 13 points. He stated that the misleading poll became the "biggest story worldwide" and that the lawsuit would be filed "today or tomorrow," emphasizing his intent to address what he perceives as deliberate attempts to undermine his campaign. In addition to the lawsuit against Selzer and the Des Moines Register, Trump announced plans to sue CBS's "60 Minutes" for the "grossly and deceitfully" editing of Kamala Harris's interview, which he alleges amounted to election interference. He also intends to take legal action against Bob Woodward for "straight up lying" and against the Pulitzer Prizes awarded by Columbia University, criticizing them for honoring what he considers to be inaccurate reporting. Trump expressed frustration that the Justice Department had not initiated these actions, stating that he "shouldn't have to do it" himself.
