Tesla Requests Canada to Lower 100% Tariff on China-Made EVs Effective October 1
Aug 29, 2024, 02:30 AM
Tesla has requested the Canadian government to lower the newly announced 100% tariff on electric vehicles (EVs) manufactured in China. This tariff, which will take effect on October 1, applies to all EVs shipped from China, including those produced by Tesla. According to a Canadian government source, Tesla sought a tariff rate similar to what it receives in the European Union, prior to the announcement of the duties. The imposition of these tariffs represents a significant shift in Canada's trade policy concerning Chinese-made electric vehicles.
