China's new energy vehicle (NEV) retail sales reached 1.12 million units in September 2024, marking a 9% increase from August and surpassing the one million mark for the second consecutive month, according to preliminary data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). Overall retail sales of new passenger vehicles in China rose by 2% in September, reversing a five-month decline. This surge is attributed to a pro-consumption drive and supportive government policies. Additionally, China's NEV sales in September 2024 saw a significant year-over-year increase of 47%, with BYD leading the market with 417,000 units sold and 33,670 units exported. EV sales set a new monthly record of 1.288 million units, accounting for over 50% of China's auto sales.
