Beastie Boys Sue Brinker International Over 'Sabotage' Use in Manhattan Federal Court
Jul 11, 2024, 06:36 PM
The Beastie Boys have filed a lawsuit against Brinker International, the parent company of the Chili's restaurant chain, in Manhattan federal court. The lawsuit alleges that Brinker International used the group's 1994 hit song 'Sabotage' in promotional videos without obtaining the necessary permissions for the sound recording or musical composition. The use of the song in advertisements reportedly occurred in 2022, and the lawsuit also cites provisions in MCA's will that bar third-party use of the band's music for advertisements. Brinker International owns 30 Chili’s restaurants in New York.
