Trump Nominates Olivia Trusty to FCC, Aiming for Republican Majority

President-elect Donald Trump has announced his intention to nominate Olivia Trusty as a commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Trusty, who currently serves as the policy director on the United States Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, has been recognized for her efforts in promoting economic growth, innovation, and the American Dream. Her nomination is part of a broader plan to establish a Republican majority at the FCC, with Trump having already appointed Brendan Carr as the agency's new chairman. Trusty's appointment aims to cut regulations, protect free speech, and ensure access to affordable and fast internet for all Americans. She is expected to face little opposition in the Senate, where Republicans hold a three-seat majority. Her background includes a master’s degree from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The FCC currently has two Democratic commissioners.
